The History Of Logos
The first logo ever created was around Ancient Egypt in 3200 BC. As it slowly evolves throughout time from being the Heraldry on the coats of arms to Printers’ Marks to finally the Modern Digital logos. Since then, logos has a visual identity associated with a group of people as a public identification and recognition. Which is why you will need to go through specific process of making a logo; Research & Sketching, Color & Typography.
Research & Sketching
Starting with Research & Sketching, you’ll need multiple extensive research about different logos that exist around the world. You’re writing the notes on what makes it work while also being aware of its flaws. For example, taking inspirations from existing logos such as the Android’s green robot. The creative thought process you will need to go through takes time. Now to make your own logo, you must avoid making your logo that will repel than attract customers. When you’re done doing your research, you start sketching out your ideas but also get feedback from others. By taking note on their suggestions on improving your sketches until the best one stands out. It becomes the finalized version, thus proceeding with the next phase.
Colors & Typography
In this next phase, you’ll begin to use Color & Typography on your work. You start choosing the color that represents something meaningful. By looking into Larry the bird (also known as the Twitter Bird), its colors are sky blue which represents trust, communication and reliability. The subject of colors depends on the chosen colors, each color has a meaningful meaning that can support your logo or thrash it. With Typography, you need to place, align and position them side by side with the logo and the color that compliments both. While you’re moving the name of the brand around, you must think about the position when putting next to the logo. Italicized or go bold to make your typography stand out compared to the rest.
